Normal and tangential behaviour of dry joints in refractory masonry

چکیده
Industrial vessels used in high temperature processes of steel and cement production are protected by refractory linings built with mortarless joints. These dry joints, formed stacked bricks have a crucial importance on the mechanical behaviour lining. The stiffness consequently stresses generated thermal elongation reduced due to present article presents results experimental numerical tests thermomechanical these compressive strength brick was assessed at ambient temperatures statistical analysis distribution bricks’ shape imperfections carried out. Several studies been out normal such as: classical joint closure test; bed closing action masonry wallet measured DIC; effects brick’s height its loadbearing capacity; wall’s comparison between head joints behaviour. To characterize joint’s tangential novel device developed presented.

Compressive behaviour of brick masonry triplets in wet and dry conditions
Mechanical behaviour of old masonry may differ from the theoretical one to a great extent, hence it needs to be properly evaluated for quantifying the safety and serviceability of real structures, in view of their rehabilitation and/or seismic reliability assessment. Among the factors affecting such behaviour, the presence of moisture, mainly from rising damp, plays a key role in the deteriorat...
متن کاملIn-Plane Behaviour of a Reinforcement Concrete Frame with a Dry Stack Masonry Panel
In order to improve the energy dissipation of the masonry infilled frame structure while decreasing the stiffening and strengthening effects of the infill panels, a new dry stacked panel (DSP) semi-interlocking masonry (SIM) infill panel has been developed. In this paper, the material properties of DSP and a traditional unreinforced masonry (URM) panel have been evaluated experimentally. A seri...

An effective approach for strengthening masonry buildings is to apply shotcrete reinforced with mesh on the surface of the wall. It is not possible to assess the behaviour of coated walls solely using analytical approaches based on simple equations of theory of elasticity without the use of numerical methods. Unreinforcced masonry wall is modelled in this study using the finite element softwar...
